From February, 15th to February, 17th the Nizhny Novgorod region hosted the divisional events of the 10th Winter Spartakiade of Nuclear Power, Industry and Science Workers called “Atomiade 2019” (Nuclear Olympics).
The games were hosted by the Russian Society of Physical Training and Sports “Atomsport”, the Central Committee of the Russian Trade Union of Nuclear Power and Industry Workers, as well as JSC “Afrikantov OKBM.”
Among the competitors were the teams representing the ROSATOM’s machine building division, such as Gidropress, ZiO-Podolsk, Atomenergomash, SverdNIIchimmash, CNIITMASH, CKBM, “AEM-technology” group of companies, Afrikantov OKBM.
The competition included four events: ski race, futsal, chess and hockey.
With the first place in the total medal count, the team of OKBM left the rivals far behind. The enterprise’s athletes became the winners in all sports with the total of ten gold and five silver medals.
“We are really happy with the results. We wanted to satisfy both ourselves and the supporters. We always play to win and strive to prove strongest,” OKBM hockey team captain Aleksandr Krylov said.
“I’m pleased that Nizhny Novgorod has hosted a sports festival and gathered lots of nuclear industry athletes.” Executive Director of Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization “Atomsport” Svetlana Petrachina said. “Everyone was striving to win and hit the podium. The games have been organized to a high standard and despite the competitive spirit the warm and friendly atmosphere was all around us.”
The winners of the qualifying round will be representing the Atomenergomash’s machine building division in the Atomiade 2019 Finals to be held on March 14-17 in Seversk.
