JSC “Afrikantov OKBM” Employees Won AtomSkills-2018, the Industry-wide Championship

Specialists of JSC “Afrikantov OKBM” (part of Atomenergomash, ROSATOM’s Mechanical Engineering Division) became champions and prize-winners of AtomSkills-2018, the ROSATOM’s third professional skill championship based upon the WorldSkills international methodology.
On the site of IEC “Ekaterinburg-Expo”, more than 900 competitors and experts met, who represented 78 companies and ROSATOM’s key higher educational institutions. They competed in 27 competences.
Following the competition results in the “Lifecycle Management” competence, the OKBM’s team headed by experts — economist Inna Ivakova and lead design engineer Mikhail Yereyev — won a second year in a row.
“The ‘Lifecycle Management’ competence is the most team building one of all presented in the championship. We had to work in a well-coordinated and well-organized manner — the result depended on each and every one,” OKBM team member, lead engineer Alexey Markin mentioned. “Our goal was to win and only to win, and we achieved it!”
Also, six second places were on the OKBM’s victory list. The second places were taken by IT engineer Valentin Khudyakov, expert Alexander Golovanov (“Design Engineer” competence), turner Alexander Yurin, expert Denis Konovalov (“CNC Turning Operations”), turner Alexey Kalinin, expert Dmitry Romanov (“Universal Machining Operations”), electrician for maintenance, servicing and upgrading of electrotechnical equipment Yevgeny Ryzhov, expert Sergey Govorukhin (“Electrical Mounting Operations”), repair man Andrey Fomin, expert Lev Balakin (“Repairing of Mechanical Equipment”), production engineer Alexey Lamzilov, expert Dmitry Rubtsov (“Production Engineer”).
The champions and prize-winners in the championship in the age category below 28 years old (inclusively) are given an opportunity to be a member of industry-wide combined team to take part in WorldSkills Hi-Tech, the Russian national championship of cross-industry worker professions in high-tech industries, which will take place in Yekaterinburg in October.

AtomSkills is an industry-wide championship of worker and engineer professions in the nuclear industry, which is based on the WorldSkills methodology. It is hosted by ROSATOM and ROSATOM Academy. The championship joins all professional skill contests held in the industry into a united system of training and professionalism assessment for people of ROSATOM’s key professions.
